The world is a big place, and our residents have families in all four corners of it. Over the course of the pandemic there have been periods where our residents have had to stay connected with their loved ones via Zoom or Facetime and whilst this technology has allowed our residents to continue to see their families face to face, albeit virtually it is not the same as personal contact.
Sadly, for some of our residents and their families this method of contact is the norm. For families who live further afield regular visits are impossible and they have to make the most of telephone calls and Facetime.
The reason for our social media presence is to be enable the sharing of photographs, highlighting the daily goings on at Kingfisher Court. This enables families to follow our adventures, comment on and share the memories being made. We post as many photographs as we can and although there are occasions where we are having so much fun, we forget to take them, we always do our best to capture the moment for families to enjoy.
Last week we received a message from a family in Australia, thanking us for sharing photographs of mum and just letting us know how much they look forward to seeing them. This gave us an idea. If they enjoyed seeing photos of mum, how much would they enjoy a video?
Steve, the lifestyle manager took on the role of director and filmed a wonderful short message. The idea made Yvonne giggle and it did need 4 takes to get it right but the result was so special.
We posted the video on Facebook in the early evening so that it was there waiting for the family to see when they awoke. We were excited to hear their reactions and they were delighted to wake up to such a personalized message.
We do lots of events and activities at Kingfisher, we do our best to think creatively and some of the events take weeks of planning and organisation but often it is just something simple that raises the biggest smiles.
