Over the last few months, we have had the pleasure to work in conjunction with West Nottinghamshire College offering work placements to students studying health and social care.
This collaboration has been hugely beneficial to both the students, the home, and our residents. It has been wonderful having them around. The students, Beth and Daphline joined Steve, the lifestyle manager getting to know our residents, spending time chatting and learning about their lives, they got involved with activities and events and have made a valid contribution to life at Kingfisher Court.
Sadly, this week saw their placement come to an end however we were able to join them at an awards ceremony acknowledging both their work within and commitment to our home and the valuable experience afforded to them through our participation in the scheme.
It was a wonderful event, attended by Daphline, Steve and Sally the manager of Kingfisher Court. They each received their certificates and posed for the obligatory photograph. It was reassuring to meet so many students who share our passion for the care industry, if the other students are even half as dedicated as Daphline and Beth, the future of care is in good hands.
We will miss having Beth and Daphline around. We organised our own token of appreciation for them and presented them with cards and gift vouchers as a thank you for their hard work and commitment and we wish them well in their continuing studies. We are hopeful that we may see them again in the future.
We shall continue to work with West Nottinghamshire College, offering valuable experience to their students, and helping to shape the future of social care, it is such a beneficial scheme, and we are proud to be part of it.
