One of my favourite places in the home is the tearoom. It is such a pretty room; the wallpaper is light and floral, and the windows are large and let in so much natural sunlight.
We use this room for many functions, it’s a wonderful place to sit and craft, there is so much space to spread out. We use it to meet and discuss up coming events and give our feedback, it’s the perfect spot to sit and read but it is at its loveliest when being used for our weekly coffee morning.
On the surface a coffee morning doesn’t sound like the most exciting event but it is one that we all look forward to. The chef never lets us down, there is always a wide variety of cakes and biscuits to choose from and a choice of hot drinks; now that the colder weather is on its way, we’re looking forward to hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows being the order of the day.
Before the pandemic we would invite family and friends along, we make so many great friends living here but and we relish the chance to introduce them to our families. We would also hold fundraising coffee mornings to help local charities; it feels good to be able to help others.
Currently it’s residents only at our little soiree but we always get a good turnout. I don’t know if it’s the interesting conversation, the comfortable environment or the cake that makes it so appealing but whatever it is, I’m glad that so many people come along, relaxing with a hot drink, a plateful of cake and the company of friends is one of my favourite ways to spend a morning.
