This week it was Dementia Awareness week at Kingfisher Court, it is important to get our residents out as much as possible, and therefore the team organised various, fun activities.
Residents and Team Members started the week with ‘Wear it Denim for Dementia’ everyone involved donated a pound, which was sent to Alzhemiers Charity.
Residents also conducted Random acts of Kindess gestures in which they were all excited about. The residents knitted some little forget me not flowers and attached them to a card and wrote a little verse on. They then left them in places people would find them in the hope to make them smile.
Notes were left on benches, tables in the local pub, carparks and even tied them to poles at the bus stop. They also popped down to the local Tesco and left a few tied around the poles at the check outs, in which a lovely young couple found it and tagged us on our facebook page letting us know that it really made her day.
The couple wrote ‘We absolutely loved finding this in Tesco Nottingham, Its made our day!’
Another wrote ‘A beautiful idea. Whoever finds one will be very lucky! Well done!’
Residents also like to write random cards and send them to the children in schools or just home to families, but if there is anybody out there that would love to receive or write to us we would love to make friends!
Our motto here at Kingfisher is to always smile or pay a compliment to our friends neighbours and strangers as they may be having a bad day and we just brightened it up for them, KEEP SMILING it is infectious and once you pass it on then they will.
Kingfisher Court is now welcoming new residents and can now offer socially distanced tours, to book your visit or for more information please call 01623 440325 or email info@halcyoncarehomes.co.uk
