This year we have spent a lot of time in the garden, we’ve dined al fresco, we’ve sipped gin in the sun, and we’ve got our hands dirty weeding and planting and tending to our flowers. There are many avid gardeners here and the summer offers them the opportunity to enjoy their passion.
This year we tried our hand at growing fruits and vegetables, quite successfully. The weather has been good to the plants, that mixture of sun and rain that spoiled a few of our plans has had the opposite affect on the garden. It has thrived.
Growing our own vegetables is wonderful, nothing tastes quite the same as something picked fresh from the garden.
We still have a few strawberries growing, they seem to have been in season for a long time this year, not that we are complaining.
This weekend there was an abundance of ripe fruit ready for picking and so we did just that. A wonderful few hours spent tending to the plants, watering and weeding, followed by a bowl of fresh strawberries in front of the TV. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
