The RSPB Big Garden Bird watch event takes place on 28th-30th January 2022. The public are asked to spend one hour watching and recording the birds in their garden and forward the results to the RSPB. The event runs annually and was established to provide vital information about garden birds, including the variety of breeds, their numbers and their habitat.
We will be taking part in this event, we have our guides ready to help us identify the birds that visit our garden although we do have a couple of extremely knowledgeable, amateur ornithologists among us so we may not need them.
We have been busy this week preparing for the event, we spent a lovely afternoon making bird feeders to help attract as many birds as possible to our garden. It was a lot of fun, but I have to say it was the messiest activity that I’ve even taken part in, there was bird seed everywhere. We did however manage to create a variety of bird treats that we hope will attract a wide range of our feathered friends to our garden.
We have been out into the garden and have hung our feeders around the grounds, now all there is to do is sit back and wait to see who visits us.
