With the winter fast approaching we have been making the most of the autumn sunshine. At this time of year, the weather is unpredictable, I can remember years when September was more glorious than July and I can also remember many chilly, wet September days. Organising a day out can be a gamble; however, it is always a gamble that we are willing to take.
Sutton-in-Ashfield is a beautiful area with some stunning outside spaces. We never tire of our trips to Sutton Lawn, there is something about a stroll in the great outdoors that is good for the soul. Fresh air, good company, and pleasant surroundings, throw in an ice-cream or a cup of tea and a slice of cake and you’ve got yourself the perfect afternoon.
Another place that we have enjoyed visiting this summer has been Coxmoor House Kennels, it has a beautiful setting and the added advantage of a menagerie of cuddly animals who are always as overjoyed to see us as we are them.
Moving into Kingfisher Court has given many of us a new lease of life, it’s very easy to get stuck in a rut of daytime television and afternoon naps at home, I suppose it’s the effort that it takes to organise days out. Here the organising is done for us, sometimes in advance but often at the last minute when a beautiful day presents itself.
We have days out planned in October, we have the gardening club pencilled in our diaries and we have our fingers crossed that this mild, dry weather continues for a least a little while longer.
