This week the country has seen the next stage of restrictions being lifted, due to the success of the four steps outlined in the government roadmap. In return residents have also experienced a reduction in restrictions this week and were more than excited to be out and visiting their local park, with the support of their nominated individuals, in this case the Lifestyle Team at Kingfisher Court.
An afternoon at Berryhill park led the residents straight onto the empty swings. Once on the swings, our residents began to reminisce of years gone by, in between the laughter they tried to remember when the last time it was that we had been on a swing.
Our residents were then treated to a cup of tea at a nearby café,
One resident commented, ‘I can’t get over the fact that I can still use my legs, on the swing. I had so much fun.’
On their return it was not long before they were all sat around the dining tables and sharing their joy of the park over tea.
Here at Kingfisher Court, we cannot wait until normality returns and our residents can experience days and activities out of the home. This small snapshot of normality provided our residents with such joy. The social aspect of visiting the local park was also highly beneficial to resident’s well-being. Encouraging socialisation and stimulating conversations.
Linda, Lifestyle Manager at Kingfisher Court said, ‘It is so lovely to watch residents giggling and having fun, we are already planning our next trip out.’
Kingfisher Court, where most residents and staff have already received their 2nd does of the Covid19 vaccination, are welcoming new residents.
